Business Development Representative

Grand Studio Design is searching for a Business Development Representative to help build our pipeline of new business and to develop a strategy for proactive BD initiatives. This role will allow the freedom to grow skillsets related to client pursuit and development. You will report directly to the CEO, and you will work closely with our leadership team. An ideal candidate is passionate about our service offerings and is able to come up with creative solutions to make Grand Studio the preferred choice for potential new clients.

Grand Studio has relied on word-of-mouth and long-term relationships with established clients for many years. We’re looking for a candidate who can help us to define an improved, sustainable process for new, outbound Business Development. We’ll ask you to focus first on lead generation and process definition, but we also offer the opportunity to explore sales-adjacent activities like marketing and thought leadership. Ultimately, we will expect you to grow into a leadership role with responsibility over a critical part of our business.

What you can expect in the role...

  • Generate new sales opportunities through various lead generation tactics
  • Make outbound calls and emails to and foster relationships with new prospects
  • Organize new and existing client prospects in our tracking platform
  • Conduct research on client industries to develop specific outreach strategies
  • Assist in business capabilities presentations with new prospects
  • Build sales reports to show progress and gaps and to identify ways to improve the sales pipeline
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of Grand Studio’s current approach to business development and engagement delivery

A great candidate might have these qualities...

  • 2-4 years of business development or sales-related work experience; bonus points for those who have worked in a complex sales process involving design or technology services
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Seriously, our standards are really high.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage your own time and work somewhat autonomously while meeting deadlines and informing leadership of your activities
  • Disciplined, detailed, and organized
  • High level of energy, persistence, motivation, and empathy to work with potential customers and clients throughout our long sales cycles
  • Committed to learning about how we work as a design consultancy services and how we apply user-centered design methods in our projects
  • Knowledge of our core industries such as financial services, sports and entertainment, healthcare, and food services is a plus
  • Based in Chicago is a plus, though we’re open to remote for the right candidate
